Quality of Life
What Quality of Life Actually Means
Let's start with a definition. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines quality of life as “individuals' perception of their position in life in the context of the culture and value systems in which they live and in relation to their goals, expectations, standards and concerns.” Put more simply, it is not a set of objective facts — salary, square meters, daily step count — but the subjective sense of satisfaction with how those factors add up in your own story.
Researchers identify two main approaches to assessing quality of life:
- Objective — the statistics: income level, life expectancy, access to education and healthcare, the state of the environment.
- Subjective — how a person actually feels: their satisfaction with life, their level of happiness and inner harmony.
Real comfort is born where these two dimensions meet. You can have a good salary and still feel unhappy because of chronic stress at work. Or you can live modestly, surrounded by care, love, and quiet, and feel a deep sense of well-being every day. This is why experts increasingly argue for taking not only material factors into account, but the social, spiritual, and environmental sides of life as well.
The Components — and the Measures — of Well-Being
So what specific building blocks make up the “quality” we are all looking for? And how do you measure it?
Current research identifies several key domains:
- Physical health and well-being. This is more than the absence of illness. It includes energy levels, sleep quality, freedom from chronic pain, and the ability to live an active life.
- Psychological state. Subjective happiness, optimism, self-esteem, stress levels, and the resources available to cope with stress.
- Social ties. Close relationships, support from family and friends, a sense of belonging to a community.
- Material standard. Income, housing conditions, financial stability, and freedom.
- Living conditions and environment. Air quality, the safety of the neighborhood, access to green space, and noise levels.
Whole indices exist to measure quality of life. The best known is the World Happiness Report, which Finland topped again in 2025 with a score of 7.736. Russia rose in the same ranking from 72nd to 66th place. Analysts also calculate the Human Progress Index (HPI), which factors in life expectancy, education levels, and income per capita.
BAGO family: An Ecosystem Built for Mindful Choice
What is interesting is that quality of life has stopped being an abstract academic category and become a practical business philosophy. The BAGO family group of brands built its ecosystem around exactly this idea: “We create products that help people feel better every day — raising quality of life through considered, mindful decisions.”
The BAGO family philosophy rests on the conviction that quality of life is built from simple but important things: the atmosphere of a home, a mindful approach to personal well-being, and care for the world around us. The ecosystem brings together several brands, each responsible for its own area of daily life:
BAGO home
Takes care of the atmosphere of a home and the mood in it. The brand creates home fragrances (diffusers, candles, sprays, sachets) with European quality and safe formulas that turn any space into a place of comfort and strength. For city living without harming nature: fragrances built on plant-based components, with no alcohol.
ETERIA COSMO
Focuses on body care and personal rituals. It is a family-run manufactory of craft home fragrances and natural body care. ETERIA COSMO products help maintain balance and inner harmony through mindful daily practices.
NATONIQ
Looks after the rhythm of your day and your energy. The brand produces sugar-free lemonades made from natural juices, along with functional beverages that support focus and steady energy through the day without harming your health.
AROMATONIX and Abel
These brands widen the possibilities for setting a mood in a space, offering more expressive fragrance solutions and a broad range for a wide variety of needs and tastes.
In this way BAGO family covers several key aspects of quality of life at once: health and care (ETERIA COSMO), comfort and psychological state (BAGO home, AROMATONIX), physical activity and vitality (NATONIQ), and even environmental responsibility, thanks to safe, natural formulas. It is an example of how a well-considered ecosystem of products helps a person assemble the pieces of their life into a harmonious whole.
Small Steps Toward Real Harmony
Quality of life does not improve on its own. It is built from daily micro-choices, rituals, and habits. Here are a few simple steps you can take today to start moving toward greater well-being:
- Begin the morning by setting the tone. Give yourself 5–10 minutes for a calm ritual: a cup of herbal tea, a wash with a pleasant ETERIA COSMO shower gel, or a few minutes of quiet with a favorite BAGO home fragrance.
- Build in a digital detox. Put your phone away an hour before bed. Replace endless scrolling with reading, a conversation with someone close to you, or simply quiet and a scented candle.
- Make your space an ally. Clear away the excess, add details that please the eye, and choose a good fragrance. Scent can change your mood — and the way you perceive a room — in an instant. The BAGO home “Lavender” fragrance, for instance, helps you unwind in the evening, while “Jasmine in Bloom” fills a home with the freshness of spring.
- Drink more water. Good sugar-free drinks from NATONIQ can be an excellent alternative to sweet soda and help you stay hydrated without the guilt.
- Listen to yourself. Ask yourself: “What do I need right now?” Rest, movement, company, quiet? Meeting your basic needs is the first step toward a durable sense of happiness.
Quality of life is not a finish line but an endless process. And it begins not with big achievements but with small things: a glass of water, a good scent in the room, attention to yourself and to the people close to you. Choose mindfully, surround yourself with things made well, and allow yourself to rest. That is the harmony we are all reaching for.
